Iowa Multilingual Solutions is proud to have on staff one of the only two Spanish language court interpreters certified in the State of Iowa. Michael J. Piper is certified by the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT) for interpretation and translation between Spanish and English. Mr. Piper has provided simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting, and sight translation services to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, and expert tape transcription/translation services for the Iowa District Court for Polk County. He is an Active Member of the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators, President of the Iowa Interpreters and Translators Association, Inc., and Treasurer of the Society for the Study of Translation and Interpretation. Mr. Piper is available for court/judiciary interpreting assignments on a limited basis (currently afternoons only), so please schedule your requests with as much lead time as possible.
NOTE: Please submit request with at least 24 hours' notice. We will confirm by e-mail or phone. For urgent requests (less than 24 hours' notice), or to cancel a previously confirmed appointment, please call Mr. Piper direct at 515-778-4995. *Due to the nature of court interpreting, Iowa Multilingual Solutions does not contract with other court interpreters for assignments. If Mr. Piper is unavailable for your assignment, or if you require court/judiciary interpreting in a language other than Spanish, please consult the Iowa State Roster of Court Interpreters for additional names. Iowa Multilingual Solutions recommends the use of certified interpreters whenever reasonably available. |
