How can I determine if the courses are for me?

The courses are designed for adult learners who exhibit the following characteristics:

·   highly motivated

·   independent

·   need/want to speak/understand Spanish for major life activities (work, travel, family, etc.)

Studying a foreign language in order to be truly able to speak and understand it requires commitment and willingness to spend significant amounts of time studying and practicing on your own. Our classes capitalize on your investment by maximizing the amount of time you spend with a native Spanish-speaking conversation partner.

Our modular approach is ideal for persons who are not sure about how much Spanish they want to learn, because you only have to commit to one module at a time, and you can take breaks between modules!

What materials/equipment do I need for Spanish study?

Our courses use state-of-the-art multi-media curricula designed for independent/group study. Learner packets typically include a textbook/workbook, Video CD ROM, and Workbook Lab MP3 Audio CD ROM. You should have a computer that will allow you to view these materials (for minimal technical requirements, click here).

Can I work through all 32 fluency levels?

Yes, theoretically you can, but most people will probably not have the need (or the time or the budget) to work through all 32 levels. It would take over 2 years of continuous study to complete all 32 levels, assuming no time off for breaks, and assuming that the learner is making steady progress. This is not realistic. Most learners typically “peak out” at a certain level, at which time they should take a break from their formal studies and continue practicing on their own for a while before resuming formal learning. Others may want to spend some time in a Spanish-speaking country before resuming formal learning. This may even result in their being able to skip one or more levels when they return!

We do offer a 10% discount for full-time employees of government agencies or non-profit organizations. To qualify for the discount, please include with your application a signed statement indicating your agency/organization of employment.

Due to the nature of our classes (groups of 4 with their own Conversation partner), we do not offer discounts based on number of persons from your agency/group who sign up for classes.
